The
Monarchs Rep basketball program is for players who want to play
on a competitive basketball team, and includes ages 8 to 18. Players are selected through open tryouts in
September of each year. The Rep teams compete in Ontario Basketball
Association sanctioned tournaments and games throughout their season.
All MMBA coaches in this league are required to obtain NCCP
certification.
Since the Rep program is based on tryouts, you may want to sign up for House League so that you are guaranteed a spot in one of our programs. if you make the Rep team 100% of your fees will be transferred as partial payment for your Rep fees. Fees for the 2010 season were $625 and $165 in addition for uniform (2 sets of jersey/shorts, warmup pants and shooting shirt). We are not expecting any substantial increase in fees for 2011/12 season. One hundred dollars is due upon selection to the team, and the balance is due by October 1st. Uniform payments are due upon ordering.
Teams participate in Ontario sanctioned tournaments at various locations in the GTA. Fees include practise time, three tournaments, Provincial Cup, and OBA registration fees.
The tryout schedule for both girls and boys will be posted by August 15th. Tryouts generally start the first weekend after school starts. There will be two tryouts each about 2 hours in duration. They may take place over two weekends or a weekend and week night. Cost of the tryouts is $25.
If you are thinking of trying out for Rep next fall, consider attending development clinics. We run a "Prep for Rep" and more. See Rep Training & Summer Programs
