VOLUNTEER

The Monarchs have many volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Some examples are: coaching, assistant coaches, referees, scorekeepers, office administration, and festival volunteers.  Make a difference in your community by being a volunteer.

Volunteer Positions for Fall are now available and you can fill out the form below online.  Please note that we also have paid coaching positions;  please email info@mmba.on.ca to find out more information.

Development Program Coaches & Assistants :  Development Coaches work with youth from ages 4 to 18.  A head coach at each session is responsible for the weekly practice plans.  As a development coach you will receive instruction from the head coach on drills being run at a session.  Normally, they would be demonstrated by the head coach first, and then you would provide the instruction at an individual station.   If you played basketball in one of our programs, or you are a parent who played basketball in high school, you are the ideal candidate for this volunteer opportunity. You will also coach a team during the game/scrimmage part of the session. At the younger ages you may also assist with refereeing. Locations and times vary. Development program coaches who coach for more than one session are eligible for reduced family rates in our programs.  Coaches are encouraged to become certified through the National Coaching Association coaching certification NCCP.  THe MMBA hosts NCCP certification training twice per year.

League Program Coaches - These coaches will coach a team.  Previous experience playing at a minimum of high school level is needed to be successful.

Scorekeepers - Minor officials are required at various locations and times. Running a clock, keeping stats, and filling out game sheets are the primary responsibilities. This volunteer position is also an ideal way to get experience prior to applying for a paid position in the OYBL League.
